The enormous multi-faceted OneSD initiative replaced the City of San Diego's outdated and disparate software systems with a new SAP system designed to improve internal communications, promote responsible fiscal management and modernize day-to-day operation efficiencies.

Conducted with City of San Diego employees, these survey results rank SDDPC among the top 2 percent of IT organizations throughout the world.

SDDPC was recognized for its ability to rapidly deploy servers in a virtual environment, which "helps ...deliver cost-effective, best-in-class service..." and created "...a budget windfall that helps SDDPC shrink costs even as application and data requirements expand." The award also recognized SDDPC's efficient use of shared storage in support of its VMware and ERP environments, which utilize advanced technologies such as de-duplication and thin provisioning.

SDDPC replaced an antiquated paper time-keeping system for the City of San Diego, providing more than 9,000 employees from 37 different departments (nearly all city employees) with the ability to record their working hours electronically; dramatically improving the user experience, the quality of data, and the effort required for processing payroll.

Leveraging the existing data network, SDDPC developed a rapid, seamless and cost-effective wireless solution that enabled the City of San Diego Fire Department to upload the latest geographic map information to the mobile computing terminals (MCT) in each of its trucks and emergency vehicles.

  Sewer History Activity Repository & Query (SHARQ)

The Public Technology Institute, the only technology organization created by and for cities and counties, recognized SDDPC for the Sewer History Activity Repository and Query System (SHARQ), a comprehensive solution developed in conjunction with the City of San Diego's Metropolitan Wastewater Department to significantly reduce sanitary sewer overflows from its wastewater collections system.

As a result of using SHARQ, MWWD has expedited the assessment of about 20,000 sewer segments from years to months, realizing a productivity improvement of more than 300%.
